8:20 pm - WE'RE BACK

So, the goals for this week:

Jess wants to finish chapter six of Incarnate. I suppose that isn't a word goal.

I will just do the generic 5000 words thing by the end of Sunday. I'm not sure if writing to Houseboy counts.

Wish us well.

7:29 am - Last week...

Yeah, so I wrote, like, NO WORDS AT ALL.

I fail.

So, this week I'm going to actually write. 5000 words, to bring me up to 19,000.

8:43 am - Success!

I should have posted about this yesterday, but whatever. I made it to my goal, 5k! Which means Incarnate is now 14k. My goal for this week is to write another 3k. Hopefully, I can do it.

It occurs to me that my excerpts aren't really following the plot much...Collapse )

11:26 pm - Idea

On second thought, I think I'm going to propose something a little different for me this week. As I think all of you know, I have Bakemono, which is the first book of Berserker, currently at 145 pages. I have edited the thing up to page 68, and now need to edit part three and what I have of part four. Editing part three involves writing a few things in, so I think I may be able to reach 5000 words that way. But either way, my goal for this week is going to be to FINISH EDITING up through what I have. We'll see what the word count actually ends up as, because it may look like nothing if I excise parts, for example. But if I finish editing, I win. ^_^

9:38 am - My goal

Um, I was so totally going to post this earlier in the week, but DSL issues that I posted about in my regular journal have since kept me from doing so. I'm continuing on Incarnate, writing 5000 words this week, trying to make it to 14k.

Excerpts from chapter 4, which mostly got written last night when the internet was brokenCollapse )

9:54 am - Failure?

But Jess, you ask, how can you fail your goal when you still have the rest of today to write? I say, I have to do the laundry and everything, and there's no way I'm going to write 2000 words in just a couple hours.

So! I fail this week, but only because I didn't realize something important. In my two-week schedule, this is my heavy week, in which I only get one day off. Next week, I have FOUR days off. So, I change my goal to a variable one instead of a weekly one.

Week One: 3000 words (heavy)
Week Two: 5000 words (light)

Now, going by that, I've accomplished my goal. But I think that's kind of cheating, really, so I call it failure. Next week I'll do better.

Excerpts!Collapse )

I'm sorry for not putting in some of the more interesting stuff. I want to save it for writers's group.

10:01 pm - MyNoWriMo, retry!

First: I set my goal at 5000 words a week!

Next, I've redone the profile and all. I picked Monday-Sunday to define the week so we can start tomorrow. :)

Anyway, here are the new rules, from the profile: Rules, yo!Collapse )

Also, joellehart, sleepy_bird, jeoshua - feel free to participate, just read our posts and offer commentary, or ignore us entirely. :)

11:21 am - Another go!

So the last MyNoWriMo/MyMaSkeMo were sort of a bust. I did write (I think I posted it to selecasharp) to a new story, Cornerstone Market, and then worked a lot more on my albatross, Bakemono. So, even though I didn't make the 50,000 word goal, I DID achieve my goal of 1. writing something that wasn't narrated by Bakemono's main character, and 2. working more on that damn story.

joellehart did post some new stuff, and pixymisa also did write something, although I don't think it was posted anywhere. So, you know, it wasn't a COMPLETE bust.

Which is why we're doing another one!

Feel no need to join us, but if you would like to, you have the month of August. And this time, I'll try to actually post progress. I'm not sure what I'll be doing this time - it's a toss-up between Sincerely, Catherine and Dragon's Land right now - but I'll have decided by tonight.

So, yeah. More writing and/or drawing. W00t!

Cross-posted to selecasharp.

New stuff up at my DA account!

Don't forget to look in scraps -- there's, like, a bear in there.

Big thankful kisses to Jeoshua for scanning them for me! (And for helping me make this new icon!)

9:25 am - Huzzah!

I've finally managed to update Joellehart's Deviant Art page- coincidentally under Joellehart- so you can now see two, and soon *MORE* drawings.

8:55 pm - Update!

MyNoWriMo update:

1. I started the story Cornerstone Market. Word count on it: 6,371.

2. Due to UNBEARABLE PRESSURE from my new muse (namely, Kenji of Berserker) and a little writer's block concerning what the hell goes on in part two of Cornerstone Market, I went back to working on book 1 of Berserker (called Bakemono) and added 2,000 words, bringing that one to a total of FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS.

3. I am going to keep working on both (and possibly book 2 of Berserker, Han'you (which currently stands at 12,976) and attempt to reach a collective 50,000.

4. After mutual agreement, Jess and I have decided to extend the deadline. Why? Because we're lazy we're having time issues, especially because not one, but two friends are coming to visit me during the MyNo timeframe (including joellehart). So we're extending it two weeks (two because I already know that first week is shot because of the whole aforementioned staff training at the library thing).

So the new end date is MARCH 19 AT 11:59 pm.

I will now post the first part of Cornerstone Market in my journal. EDIT: It's here.

Rather than comment to Harp's post and Jeoshua's comment, figured I'd stick my thoughts up here at the top... because it's such a small community, I want to be as active as I wanna be, dammit!

It's not that every day has a deadline, it's that there's a certain amount of work you have to complete by the end of the month, and the most logical way of doing it is to reach a certain goal each day, right?

I certainly hope so... I didn't draw anything yesterday, and I don't want to be a Loser already!

We'll go on the honor system (you all trust me, right? Right?) and post large amounts of sketches in a few installments, rather than posting frequently. Not to make an executive decision here, but it seems logistically it would best for Jeoshua and I to post once weekly, or even skipping a week here and there if extenuating circumstances interfere.

That's only in reference to posting my work... I'm going to get my butt in gear and start sketching every day.

As to the exact number and kind of drawings I'll be producing (several quick sketches can be done in an hour, a finished color drawing takes many hours over the course of a few days)... I think we're still deliberating on that.

1:11 pm - Okay, here it is.

So the user icon sucks, but I'm at work and I don't care THAT much.

Here is our little community. Now everyone apply to join!

I guess we can post our finished work here? Or maybe just update our writing journals and post the link here. joellehart and jeoshua, can you scan the sketches/comics/whatever it is and post? Speaking of you two, what are you doing?

I guess that's a good question for everyone to answer, actually. Hmm.
